Matthias Clark is an award-winning songwriter and was named Best New Artist at CBGB’s, emerging from the fertile New York music scene as both a powerful vocalist and a deeply trained musician. The son of legendary American actor Matt Clark, Clark’s roots run deep in both the arts and American culture. A bebop guitarist who was transcribing John Coltrane and Wes Montgomery as a teenager, he brings a rare level of musicianship to his work as an “organic, homegrown, open-source songwriter.” He has performed and collaborated with artists including Carly Simon, Pat Martino, Michelle Shocked, and members of Hedzoleh Soundz, and has led projects such as King Holiday, Dharma Bums, and The Lost Tribe. Founder of American River Records, Clark continues to write, record, and perform music that bridges street-level American experience with sophisticated musical language.
